Question 1 of 8
1. Question
Look again at one of the tables from the lesson. Read the paragraph plans below and decide how the information has been organised. Select the correct answer.
Paragraph 1: Highest overall. Double service and sales workers. Decline in 2000 otherwise always increasing. Nearly $200 more by the end. Significantly higher increase than the weekly average income.
Paragraph 2: Didn’t increase 98-99. Every other year showed increase (unlike other occupations listed). Increase overall of just under $200 (over $60 than the increase for service and sales workers over the period). Like professionals, always above average weekly income.
Paragraph 3: Also had slight decline in 2000, and again in 2002 2003. Lowest increase of them all. Always less than average income. Overall less than $100 increase over the 8 years

The table shows the average weekly wage for employment sectors over an 8 year period.
One of the clear trends is that professionals had the highest overall income, more than double the income received by service and sales workers. Their average income rose by just under $ overall. With the exception of a slight decline to $ in 2000, this figure increased annually, remaining significantly higher than the average and ending at $ by 2005.
Income for trades people remained stable at $ from 1998 to 1999, although every year after that showed a rising trend ending at $ in 2005. Like professionals, they earned more than the average weekly income. There was an overall increase of just over $ , over fifty percent more than the increase for service and sales workers.
Sales and service workers’ income slightly declined in 2000, and again in 2002. They had the lowest increase of all sectors, always below the average income and rising less than $ over the 8 years, from $ to $ over the period..
Overall, it is clear that professionals and trades people earned above the average income, but service and sales workers earned significantly less.
